Enhance Your Account Security with 2-Step Verification
2-Step Verification (also known as two-factor authentication) adds an additional layer of protection to your Google Account. This feature helps secure your account even if your password is compromised.
Once 2-Step Verification is enabled, you can sign in using one of the following methods:
Your password followed by a second verification step
A passkey
During the sign-in process, you may be prompted with different authentication challenges. Google selects the most appropriate challenge to balance ease of access with security, helping prevent unauthorized access.
Helpful Tips:
By default, creating a passkey opts you into a passkey-first, password-less sign-in experience.
If you prefer to use your password as the initial step, you can update this preference in your account settings.
How to Enable 2-Step Verification:
Open your Google Account.
In the navigation panel, select Security.
Under "How you sign in to Google," click Turn on 2-Step Verification.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
